New to the North American market, Heavenly Villagio Marzano, the latest variety of tomato from Village Farms, was debuted at the PMA Fresh Summit last month. The heirloom-type plum tomato originated in the town of San Marzano, Italy—where it gets its name from.

“Our exclusive Mini San Marzano variety is distinctive in appearance with a unique elongated slightly pear shape,” says Doug Kling, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for the Eatontown, N.J.-based grower. “They are absolutely delicious with a remarkably sweet taste, not at all acidic, and with very few seeds. The Heavenly Villagio Marzano is the first in a series of exclusive varieties to be offered by Village Farms."
