Village Farms is pleased to announce the exclusive premier of a new variety of specialty tomato being introduced for the very first time to North American markets. The “Heavenly Villagio Marzano” is an authentic Mini San Marzano plum tomato and will be showcased at the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit in Atlanta, GA. Born and bred across the Atlantic, this heirloom type plum tomato variety got its name from the town of San Marzano near Naples, Italy, and was originally grown in the rich volcanic soils of Mt Vesuvius.

Village Farms’ is pleased to be the first grower in North America to introduce this variety to its customers and consumers. Village Farms Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Doug Kling had this to say about their new Heavenly Villagio Marzano, “Our exclusive Mini San Marzano variety is distinctive in appearance with a unique elongated slightly pear shape. They are absolutely delicious, with a remarkably sweet taste, not at all acidic, and very few seeds.”
No wonder its cousin San Marzano variety has been a favorite of chefs the world over, famous for its high quality and exquisite flavor. Kling continued, “Heavenly Villagio Marzano was developed by Village Farms through an exclusive partnership with a world renowned seed company. Heavenly Villagio Marzano is the first in a series of exclusive varieties to be offered by Village Farms”, says Kling.
“This is just another way Village Farms continues to strive to be above the competition by anticipating customer needs before trends hit the masses”, offers Debi Street, Development & Innovation Manager for Village Farms. Village Farms is offering Heavenly Villagio Marzano in a convenient dry quart size and packaged in zippered stand-up pouch. “This size and package is very appealing to the growing healthy snack segment within the fresh tomato category”, continues Street.
